DeepBlueLAB® NOx
Intelligent SCR Technology for Demanding Applications DeepBlueLAB® NOx
When clean air is the goal, precision is the path
How DeepBlueLAB® NOx Works
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is one of the most effective technologies to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOₓ) emissions from combustion engines.
In this process, a reducing agent – typically urea or ammonia-based solution – is injected into the exhaust gas stream.
Inside the SCR reactor, the agent reacts over a catalyst surface to transform NOₓ into harmless nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor (H₂O).
Main reactions:
- 4 NO + 4 NH₃ + O₂ → 4 N₂ + 6 H₂O
 - 6 NO₂ + 8 NH₃ → 7 N₂ + 12 H₂O

While the chemistry is simple in theory, the real challenge lies in designing the right catalyst and SCR system around it.

The Heart of the System: Catalyst Expertise
The true heart of any SCR system is the catalyst – and defining the right catalyst setup is a science in itself. It requires deep understanding, decades of experience, and an eye for detail. At LAB, we bring all of that to the table. Our in-house catalyst specialists have been working with SCR systems for over 30 years – with expertise that goes far beyond standard solutions.
This is tailor-made emissions control – built around your engine, your process, and your goals.
DeepBlueLAB NOx: More Than a Catalyst – A Complete, Engineered System
While the catalyst is the heart of the SCR system, it’s only one part of a fully integrated solution.. Every DeepBlueLAB®NOx installation includes all engineered plug-and-play components needed for reliable and efficient NOx reduction – pre-assembled, delivered, and ready for effortless integration.
At the center of the system is the SCR reactor, which houses the catalyst. We design the reactor casing – vertical or horizontal – to match the physical constraints of your engine room or plant layout. Measurement instruments integrated into the reactor continuously monitor critical process parameters to ensure safe and compliant operation.
Upstream of the reactor, a precisely engineered mixing section and injection lance ensure uniform distribution of the reductant. Thanks to our design expertise, we keep the required injection length as short as possible – a decisive advantage when space is tight, especially in retrofit projects.
The reductant – whether urea (AdBlue) or ammonia – is delivered by a highly efficient dosing system, supplied via a dedicated pump unit. The entire process is managed by a compact, robust control system, which we tailor to your plant architecture and I/O structure.
We offer both open-loop systems and closed-loop systems, equipped with NOₓ measuring system for dynamic, real-time control. This ensures that reductant usage is always optimized – reducing operational costs while maximizing performance.
Every DeepBlueLAB®NOx system is factory-tested and preconfigured to your requirements before delivery. All signal interfaces are aligned, so your team can integrate the system quickly and with minimal commissioning effort.
